Altro Mondo Arte Contemporanea proudly presents the inauguration of its home grown artists with the opening of the group show ILLUMINATION, the first of two exhibitions featuring works by young artists from Bulacan State University.

Apart from mastering the esoteric sensibilities of art, Altro Mondo’s aim is to further the conceptual understanding of creativity by testing the limits of the artists’ imagination. The program also aspires to guide these artists to enable better capacity thinking and translate ideas in a perspective that will produce thought-provoking work that is not only inspiring, but also timeless.

Eventually, the gallery’s goal is to hone and refine the creative prowess of these young painters, namely Don Bryan Bunag, Lawrence Cervantes, Kiko Marquez, Ukoy Morse, Marvin Quizon, Ferdinand Ruiz and Louis Nichole Santos. All possessing varying degrees of technical and creative expertise, the program puts together a syllabus of exercises for each student to properly condition their abilities with drawing, painting, and rendering.

Illumination takes its name from the European Renaissance period. What emerged as a distinct style of art became the byproduct of developments in science, literature and philosophy which marked a new era of humanist thought. For this group show, the artists have reinterpreted Renaissance masterpieces in their own pictorial language, giving them a more contemporary spin.
